ReCircle
The ReCircle group project is an innovative initiative aimed at transforming recycling practices in Singapore by leveraging technology, gamification, and community-driven incentives. Designed to integrate seamlessly into residents' daily lives, the project features smart recycling bins equipped with sensors to minimize contamination and maximize recycling efficiency. This initiative, intended for collaboration with the National Environment Agency (NEA) as if it were a live client project, supports Singapore's Zero Waste Master Plan by encouraging sustained recycling efforts through a user-friendly app that tracks and rewards environmentally responsible behavior. This hands-on approach not only boosts recycling rates but also enhances community engagement and promotes a circular economy.

To further enhance the execution of the ReCircle project, we developed an accompanying website and app designed to complement and extend the functionality of our smart recycling initiative.

This section introduces the initial slides of our final presentation. In these slides, we provide a brief overview of our initiative’s goals, detail the deficiencies of the current system as revealed by our research, and summarise the actionable insights obtained from our primary research that inform our proposed solutions.

This section highlights the diverse approaches our group adopted in our research. While my teammates explored different facets, I focused on identifying key stakeholders to gain varied perspectives. This approach helped us pinpoint specific areas for deeper investigation. One interesting concept I learned during this research was 'wishcycling,' a term I encountered for the first time through this project.

We further enhanced our research by conducting surveys designed to understand the shortcomings of recycling in Singapore from the users' perspective. Subsequent interviews with participants allowed us to delve deeper into the reasoning behind their recycling behaviors.

This section presents our brand guidelines, which are essential for maintaining consistency across the entire project. Despite being a hypothetical exercise, we strive for a level of professionalism in execution. These guidelines will be applied comprehensively to all aspects of our presentation to ensure a cohesive and polished final product.

A key objective of our project was to enhance the design of existing recycling bins based on feedback and insights from our research. We developed an improved version of the bin, emphasising human-centric design principles. This approach aims to modify user behaviour and shift perceptions towards a more positive view of recycling.
We utilised AutoCAD to create a realistic model of the bin and employed graphic design techniques to craft the labels. These labels were then seamlessly integrated onto the bin using Photoshop to enhance the visual appeal and functionality.

Brand Video: This video succinctly introduces our initiative, outlining the problem we've identified and the solution we offer, all crafted to engage and appeal to our audience.

I utilised After Effects for animation, adapting the renders provided by my teammate to seamlessly fit the video execution, then compile all the sequence together.

In addition to a video that encapsulates our initiative and research, we also created an infographic designed to visually engage the audience at a glance.
App: As part of our initiative, we gamified the recycling process by developing an app designed to make recycling more engaging. This app works in tandem with an enhanced version of the recycling bin, optimizing user interaction and efficiency.

This website serves as the central hub for all research, deliverables, and details of our initiative. It also functions as a comprehensive resource for those seeking to understand the logistics of how our initiative operates, including our collaboration with the National Environment Agency (NEA). While this project is hypothetical, we approach and execute it with the utmost professionalism, as if it were for a live client.
